Material from Ma

My darling Ma let me rat through her prized sewing wardrobe last night. Mum doesn’t do nearly as many sewing projects as she used to, so let me leave with a whole bag full of material for my stash!!!
I found fabric that brought back so many childhood memories, where mum made me dresses, curtains and a bag for my piano books.

I’ve put myself on a 2 drink limit at the moment (waaay to many big nights!) so all this material has inspired me to make heaps of things - which will get me through staying in on a Friday night!!

Girls Tea Party

I had a few girlfriends around on the weekend, for a lovely dinner (i used the good china!!)
I LOVE this set. My mum gave it to me, and it's a set made up of all matching cup, saucer and plate but each one is different.

This is the dessert I made - Strawberry Shortcake - from the good old Womens Weekly cook book circa 1980! Thanks mum!

Craft Room despair…

I promised my Great Aunt a while ago that I would seel some of her really old vintage dresses on eBay.

She has some really great stuff, but I am nervous about selling it all! I told her that I could get a good price for her – now looking at the stuff on eBay it’s not going for nearly as much as I would have hoped!!

So, my craft room resembles a Vintage clothes shop at the moment with around 20 dresses 5 suits 20 pairs of shoes and about 30 handbags!!!

HELP!!!! I desperately need to fix up my craft room!!!!!

At least my sewing table is slightly neat!!

Baby Girl Card

My cousin's girlfriend had a baby the other day - which makes me an Aunty!! (I know this isn’t genealogically correct, but I don’t have any brothers or sisters, so this is the closest I’ll get!!)

So I made them a card to welcome the little bub into the world!

The paper had the most beautiful little bunnies on it!!

Anyways, I found a bargain bin and scored these zippers – 18 for $5!!!! WOO HOO!!

Plus I indulged on a few kitsch figurines (I love them!!)

Buttons

My little kitty Buttons always has to get in on the action when I'm sewing!!

Appliqué Refashion

I have a "team building" session today, and we all have to wear a certain colour - either red, yellow, green or blue. I got Yellow.
I didn't have anything that was yellow in my wardrobe, so I decided to refashion a singlet I had.

Typical of me though to leave it till the night before to make it!! Am soo tired today!

I used an old white singlet

And a thrifted yellow jacket (god knows what posessed me to buy this!! It is very "mother of the bride")

And viola - a new singlet!!

What did I learn?? Well, Applique is not nearly as easy nor as fun as it looks :( Especially at 12pm at night!!

PLUS, bows fix up ALL mistakes :)

And I also made her a beaded necklace

Re- Loved Singlet

This was a singlet that I ammended as it was very old and never wore it. (It looks a little shabby though cause the cat attacked it the other night!)

In the beginning...

Well , I have been inspired by the many talented and crafty people out there, and I have decided to start blogging my own crafty projects.
If anyone actually reads this - then I hope that you enjoy it!! :)
