Who'd have thought....

....that my body could produce so much snot!!! Apologies for the graphic post, but it amazes me!! I have had a wretched cold for 2 days now. My Honi had his bucks on Friday night, and I have a feeeling he picked up a lurgy then ("could have been that cigar i shared with all the boys" he says!)
I was a Hen on Saturday night, and it was such a wonder ful day!! We had High Tea at Sir Stamford at Circular Quay and it was just perfect. My Darling bridesmaid made a surprise entrance too which was just sooo lovely. She lives in Townsville and didn't think she'd be able to make it down.

Well, I'm off - back to the couch to watch the Wonder Years seris i've been taping on Foxtel. I sooo hope I'm better for Brown Owls tomorrow night! I will be devastated if I miss it! We're learing how to crochet :)

Amusing sign at work

Someone wrote om our whiteboard
'I work in marketing because I'm creative'
And some cheeky bugger changed it to...
'I work in marketing because I'm not creative enough to work in an agency'

Hehe made me giggle anyway......ok back to work..............

My Creative Space Thursday

MyCreative Space this week (thanks for hosting Kirsty!) - Wedding planning crafting.
I'm totally loving it!!
I'll feel a little lost I think once the wedding is over. I'll have have to create a whole new lot of crafty projects for myself!!

the cards in the left hand corner are Moo Mini Cards. They are just the bestest thing EVER! If you don't have a business card, go get yourself some of these!! We got some printed to tie onto the Bonbonnerie (or as Mr Honi says..Bomaderry)

A Place I loved / Design Inspiration

I would KILL to be able to go back to this place, in this time. This was my grandparents place a long, long time ago. I have memories of learning to play the piano, hiding under the stairs and exploring in the garden.

I had patchy detail memories of the place, then mum showed me these pics the other day and it all came flooding back.

It’s no wonder I have an immense passion for Vintage things when I grew up around a place like this!
Much to Mr Honi's dismay, I adore purple and teal, cane furniture, OTT chandeliers, brocade fabric and heavily printed wallpaper

Garden dreaming

On the weekend I managed to put my phone down for long enough to enjoy the great outdoors. Mr Honi and I went back up to Eden Gardens and I decided to take a few piccies. I think it’s really magical there and I would love to just take a book down there and read in one of the relaxing water feature gardens.

It's the kind of Garden that I imagine when I read Alice in Wonderland where she falls asleep....

Quilt nearly done...

Well the top is done, and I've pinned it all together and I will start quilting it tonight! I’m a bit nervous as this the first proper quilt I’ve done. I’ve been doing a bit of practise on some scraps so I’m hoping it all works!!
The baby is being christened just after our wedding so I want to be able to give it to them before we go on our honeymoon.

The Phone for Bloggers..

My new phone totally rocks. I bought the HTC Dream or "Google phone" the other day and I am in completely in love with it. I'm not normally one for techy stuff, but this is seriously a phone for bloggers!!

YES- I work for a Telco. NO- I haven't received any benefits for posting about this phone!!

I have wanted a new phone for AGES and it's taken me 5 years to decide what phone I wanted to buy!

This phone does just soooooo much. Here's just some of the things it can do:
- I can use Gmail on it
- I can check my blog, and all my lovely readers blogs on it. It has a complete web browser with a touch screen AND a mouse to ensure easy browsing
- I can take a picture and email it to my blog which creates a post!!
- I get all my comments emailed to me, so because I can access Gmail, comments come through to me like an SMS message
Other things I can do:
- use the qwerty keyboard - which makes emailing sooooo easy
- check google maps with street view (perfect for finding my way to Brown Owl meets)
- do google searches
- Facebook
- YouTube
- download any number of free applications which do things from providing an on-screen ruler to tracking my menstrual cycle!!
Much to Mr Honi's dismay, I can now check my blogs at ANY time I want and i have 24/7 access to all things crafty on the web!!
Excuse me while I give it a quick kiss.

Wedding Cameras BEFORE and AFTER

Mention the word WEDDING and everyone seems to jack up their prices. This video nails it on the head (although I promise I’m not a bridezilla!!)

We decided to have disposable cameras on each table and when we went looking for them, wedding disposable cameras were more expensive than standard ones!! So I just went into the reject shop and bought 11 “party cameras” that had a hideous cover and I made new covers for them.

Before

After

Detail of glittery bits (i am, and always have been totally in love with glitter)

I totally love them now and they’ll look great on the table!! The purple ribbon around the end is the same colour as my bridesmaid dresses!!

My Creative Space Thursday

Back into the craft room for my creative space this week.....
At this rate, it looks like I'll be able to finish Peanut's quilt in no time!! Mrs Badskirt has been pushing me to "let loose" with my quilting (I do have a tendency to be a bit of a perfectionist in regards to things lining up or matching exactly).
I'm quite proud to say that I think I have let loose on this one (for me anyway) and I am soooo happy with how it's turning out.
This "wonky log cabin" pattern is so much fun to do, and just has so much freedom. I LOVE it. I can feel a few more quilts like this coming on - I might even start to sell them on Etsy soon!! :)

One month till the Wedding!!

Mr Honi and I went for a lovely dinner last night at Cafe Sydney (thanks to a lovely friend who gave us a voucher for dinner there!) It was just lovely. The view was amazing as was the company, and the food was devine.

At the bottom of Customs House is a glass floor that has a model, light up replica of the Sydney coast under the floor!! I did kind of feel like I was going to fall through the floor, but it was very cool anyway!

hahahahahahha

No words are really needed for this one. I'm SURE this is what Mr Honi thinks when I talk about craft shows!!

She’s a pretty famous lady now!

The other day I got a lovely card in the mail from the super talented Jodi over at Ric Rac. The Queen of selvedge sent me a gorgeous magnet and lovely thankyou card for some selvedge I sent her.

I was showing mum and dad the great magnet when Dad said......
“Oh, did you know there’s a lady who made a whole dress out that sellage….selly….sella-whatever…..the edge of the material stuff”

Well, for Dad to know about Jodi, I think means that she’s pretty darn famous!

He was quiet stoked when I told him that this card was from “that lady who made the dress”

Thanks Jodi – your magnet has pride of place on the fridge – and thanks for making dear old Dad feel VERY cool because he can say he knows all about the selvedge dress and chair! (and yes, he can pronounce it properly now too!)

Tea and sewing

Whatta man. He brings me tea and weight watchers biccies while I sew. AND he used my fave mum and tray too!

Posted from my mobile

New Quilt

From the Queen of starting things and not finishing them, comes ANOTHER QUILT!!!!!!

These fabrics will be used in a new baby cot quilt for peanut (my soon to be niece/nephew). As we don’t know what it’s going to be I’ve decided to make it in bright yellows, greens, aqua and purpley pink. I think it’s going to look quite funky.

It’s going to be a wonky log cabin, as I was totally inspired by the ones that Amy @ Badskirt made. The monkey is fussy cut from a piece of material that has all wind up toys. So I'll pick each toy and make it the centre of the square.

I'm really excited about this one as it's different to what I've done before. And I am promising myself that I will finish it in ONE MONTH. Dear readers, please chase me up and make sure I get this one done in my timeframe!!!!

As for not finishing my other projects....
I can finish the corners of this quilt now that I have some cute fabric,
And I'm going to take this quilt to MO (as mentioned in the previous post)

Peanut

This weekend I was lucky enough to have a little trip to my FAVE store in Gladesville - Material Obsession. The ladies in there are always soo lovely and I'm going to take my quilt top in there so they can help me out with my next steps.

I needed to buy some more fat quarters as I have a new little niece or nephew on the way in a few months so I want to get sewing and have a few things finished before the wedding.

I've decided to make this little elephant called "Peanut" as this is what we've been calling the little bub!

It's from this gorgeous book

and here's a close up of the fabric. I don't normally like clowns but this is very cute material..

Canvases

Bit of a sore hand from writing all these place settings! Am super happy with how they've turned out though. Mr Honi and I get the sparkly ones!

these shoes weren't made for walking

WOW!!! I sent this from my mobile to blogger!! AWESOME!!

Cool Pic of some boots and random shoes at Eden Gardens in North Ryde. That place rocks so much! Mr Honi and I love it there, and often go there to get our coffee on the weekends.

My Creative Space Thursday

Continuing with the MyCreative Space meme from Kirsty at Kootoyoo I decided to show you something a bit different.

My Creative Space this week is my kitchen. I made Wantons a few nights ago and I was super impressed with how they turned out. They were delicious little parcels - and they looked so great in the steamer I just had to take a pic!!

This weekend though, I'd like to go to the Beach for "My Creative Space" I bought a $10 underwater camera from Vinnies yesterday- I don't think it's ever been used. I bought it to take on the Honeymoon for some fun snorkeling shots in Hawaii. Hope it works!!

What a hoot!

Brown Owls last night was wonderful!

A night filled with cups of tea, delicious home made cakes and goodies (Jess is an AMAZING cook!) gossip, stitching and laughs.

It was lovely to meet other like minded girls. We all discovered each others passions and crafty aspirations and it seems we all want to crochet a “nana rug” for the coming winter.
We also had a great pile of craft supplies fo the "re-stash a crafter" drive.

Thankyou to our wonderful prefects for putting together some great kits (I’ll post some pics of the one I did when I finish it off) and for organising such a great night!

I can’t wait till the next meet!

My Creative Space Thursday

Tonight, my Creative Space (care of Kirsty at Kootoyoo) will be the First Sydney Brown Owls Meet-up for 2009! I am so super excited!! I have a little sewing project ready to go and I just can't wait to meet some of the lovely girls whose blogs I read daily!

I'm a "Hedgerow Owl"
I've made up a little pack for the "Re-stash a Crafter" drive :) I hope it makes someone happy.

More posts later after the meet!

Devastation

Our once flourishing tommy plan was rudely demolished in the cover of darkness the other night. We awoke to find one of the stakes bent right to the ground providing a nice little ramp for our resident possums to climb up and devour our juicy produce.
I had gone to great lengths to protect the budding tomatoes that were growing, by placing the toe of a stock over EACH ONE and then stapling it in place.
The possums managed to de-bunk my protection methods and ripped the toms off the tree and ate through the stocking.

We are so annoyed. I am no longer allowed to mention the words “possum” or “tomato” in the house.
what annoys me even more is that they left them HALF eaten!!!
Apologies for my bloggin absence - with a wedding to plan (only SIX weeks now!!!) I ahve been pretty crazy!!!!
