My Creative Space Thursday

My creative space this week has been sitting in the waiting room at the hospital.
I'm playing Nurse Nancy to my dear Mr Honi - and before you ask; No, there are no costumes involved!!!

He had surgery yesterday to strip the bad veins from his legs. This picture doesn't look nearly as bad as it looks in real life - so many little nicks and cuts, and they're all sticking to the TED stocking. Poor Mr Honi.

So, sitting in the waiting room at the hospital yesterday was perfect time to work on a bit of crochet. I've started on my first attempt of the 200 blocks - seems i need to brush up on ending my rows though, as I've not quite mastered that yet. I'm fine with Granny squares, but working in rows is a new skill for me.

Oh, and I was getting a hand cramp the other day, and rather than go out and buy a new hook, I fashioned myself a wide grip from Fimo - and viola no more cramping!! What do you think?

A Little too Literal??

I had a good laugh after this conversation in Woolies last night….

Mr Honi: I have to tell you something

Me: yeah ok, what’s up honey?

Mr Honi: You know that shampoo you buy, well when I first looked at it, I thought it was REALLY cruel to animals.

Me: ummm….why?

Mr Honi: Well, it says that it uses the cuticles from baby seals!

Me: Pardon???

Mr Honi: Well, I THOUGHT it used the cuticles from seals, until I re-read the label properly. Plus I remembered that seals have flippers, not hands with fingernails – so they don’t really have cuticles.

Mr Honi then picks up said Shampoo and shows me the point of his confusion…..
....and that's the truth.....

i LOVE my life...

Saturday night.........Sitting on the balcony with Mr Honi, while he stoked the fire and Buttons (the cat) wandered around our feet. I sat with my scarf and uggies on, reading Frankie with a glass of Red, while Regina Spektor’s new CD played in the background.....

My life can’t get any better than this moment....

The picture above is a collage i made of all the special things from our relationship....the first flower Mr Honi picked for me, the Moet lid from the night we got engaged, 2 sparkly hearts from our engagement party and the newspaper clipping from our engagement announcement.

One month till the Wedding!!

Mr Honi and I went for a lovely dinner last night at Cafe Sydney (thanks to a lovely friend who gave us a voucher for dinner there!) It was just lovely. The view was amazing as was the company, and the food was devine.

At the bottom of Customs House is a glass floor that has a model, light up replica of the Sydney coast under the floor!! I did kind of feel like I was going to fall through the floor, but it was very cool anyway!

the man i love gots style!

Mr Honi has impeccable style now, and his ma sure did a good job of dressing him in the cutest outfits ever!! Check out the "nautical" themed duds. Mr Honi informs me he had just tipped out ALL of his mums pot plants. She was pissed, but couldn't help taking a picture of his proud face that simply said "i helped you garden ma!!"

To me, this picture says "yep, this is livin".........i luuurve the alphabet print on these little cuties. I can't wait to have kiddies so i can make little outfits for them!!

and this is the best one of 'em all. The velour over-em-alls, the socks with sensible sandals. I just love it....and I love you Mr Honi! (from the soon to be Mrs Honi :) )

OFF WITH HER HEAD!!

Mr Honi and I had a LOVELY weekend. We had lunch on one of my favourite pubs - PJ's in Drummoyne. I love the decor and the cosiness of it!
Then yesterday we went Strike Bowling! I haven't been bowling in AGES and it was soo much fun.
Mr Honi has a rather large and rather terrifying (if you're standing behind him) wind up.
Then we caught a ferry back to our car. On the walk home we passed a construction site where massive units are being built amongst sweet, quaint little houses. It's such a shame as it already looks like it's going to be a modern monstrosity compared to the heritage houses surrounding it. Anyway, on the edge of a pile of discarded items they've obviously found on the dig I found the head of a china doll. I have no idea if she's old or worth anything (if she had a body) but I just thought she was quite interesting! :) It wasn't stealing as it was in the rubbish pile and i felt funny picking her up but I just had to rescue her!

Sneak Peak..

2 projects spurned from Sunday afternoon shopping at Riot Art (my FAVE store). Mr Honi bought me a wood burner which I have always wanted! It smells a bit using it, so this might have to be a little outdoor project. My first trial effort was a beautifully tacky "Mr Honi's BBQ" sign. He loved it

And I bought some air dry clay (remember the stuff you used to play with as a kid? "Dats" i think?) Got a few ideas for this little guy. Will post development pics later!

Bick frum New Zilund

it's very hard type type with an accent isn't it........

After the mammoth move Mr Honi and I went to visit some of this family in New Zealand for 5 days It was a great little break but I only wish it had been longer!
Mr Honi bought me this gorgeous 70's style long neck cat filled with pretty flecks of Paua shell.

We've nearly finished the unpacking - only about 3 boxes to go then I think then we're done!! Still a lot of work to do in my "mini craft zone" but it's getting there and feeling nice and cosy. We have our engagement party this weekend, so hopefully after that I will have a lot of free time to get my crafty butt into gear :)

Stay tuned for some better and more interesting posts!!

Oh, and I bought myself a new camera!! WOO HOO!!!!

I'm Engaged!!!

Well, the lag in blogging this week was because the darling Mr Honi proposed!!!! He was a compelte romantic and proposed on my birthday, down on the water's edge in Sydney overlooking the Opera House and the Bridge. Then he whisked me away to the Blue Mountains for 2 nights together (hired a really nice car and we drove down the same night) and then to the Hunter Valley (above) for 2 nights with 2 of our closest friends.

I am on cloud9 at the moment!!! Must book a venue ASAP though- THEN I can start thinking about all the crafting goodness to come like the invites, bombonerie, flower arrangements........ toooo exciting!!!!

Have promised myself though to not become one of these!!!

I Love Melbs!

Mr Honi and I were lucky enough to spend a weekend in Melbourne, in the luxurious Windsor Hotel, in their Victorian Suite courtesy of a little award from my work.
We certainly lived the high life with a 3 course dinner on Friday night, and their famous High Tea on Saturday afternoon.

We did a LOT of shopping, and I was SUPER excited about meeting Pip from Meet me at Mikes! I bought a lovely little necklace from there, which you can also buy in her online shop - Take a look!!

I've only been to Melbourne once before, and I am continually overwhelmed by the arcitechture of the place. The glorious old school buildings, the quaint alley ways and the masses of street art that is simply awesome. I could EASILY live there!!

and then we flew home. Happy to be seeing our little home and StevieB the cat again, but sad to be leaving at the same time. The early evening flight provided some gorgeous images...

just too cute...

...I felt a little sickie the other night, and so darling Mr Honi said he's make me cheese on toast. Then he comes out with the silver tray, cheese jaffles, a ripper cup of tea and a flower he handpicked from the garden....

30 days of the Everyday...day eighteen

i am the blog-lands slowest "30 days" poster I think!!

After vowing to buy only 4 ROMAN BLINDS at IKEA, Mr Honi and I came home with: 4 roman blinds, 2 rugs, a chopping board, serviettes (with a very pretty pink print) wall hooks, and 2 MASSIVE canvases (see above pic) I don't think I have EVER bought ONE thing at IKEA!!!

This is....what makes me laugh out loud..

Thanks to Poppalina for this weeks "this is...." meme
Am I allowed to use videos??
Becuase this is what makes me laugh out loud.
Talking animals.

If I'm not allowed to use a video, then I'd have to say Mr Honi is what makes me laugh out loud. He always knows what to say to make me smile and to make me laugh - wether it be a small giggle or a full on belly shaking laugh.
