This is.....something I'm surprised I like

Well, this weeks "this is" theme is proudly brought to you by Earl and Cookie.

I'm sorry to any Adelaidians who read this blog, but I'm surprised that I actually liked Adelaide. I've had 2 trips from hell there - and then this time, I was stuck in a crappy hotel with a major walk to any shops/ civilisation, overlooking a cemetry, without Mr Honi for 2 weeks - so i've never been too fond of the place!

But I was surprised this time at how pretty the place actually is. The rolling hills, and the pretty churches. I'd like to be able to go back there and explore a bit more in my own time!

This is my favourite Movie

This weeks "This is" meme is from the wonderful Hokey!!. This was a REALLY hard one, so I've narrowed it down to a few.....
Funnily enough, hokey had quite a few double ups as me!
Ok, first off. The worlds most under-rated movie ever!! When it came out, i had no interest AT all. Hired it one night reluctantly and completely fell in love. Based on a True story. Anthony Hopkins does a GREAT Kiwi. Just one of those "nice stories. No blood or guts or nastiness.
Next, Picnic at Hanging Rock - a complete classic. I was devastated when Mr Honi told me it wasn't based on a true story (which I had ALWAYS though it was!)

Cinema Paradisio - this was actually Mr Honi's fave movie. He hired for us to watch and i simply loved it. A young kid befriends an old man who runs the local cinema. Simply gorgeous and subtitled.

The notebook. The most romantic, lovely wonderful love story ever written. I think i used an entire box of tissues on this one!!

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle stop cafe. A wonderful little story - again just a nice story - with a killer twist!! Juno - The music in this movie makes it a fave from the get-go. A really sweet movie. She's funny and quirky and NATURAL like a teenager should be! (maybe not the whole teenage pregnancy thing i guess though)and last but not least, a childhood fave. The Labyrinth. David Bowie at his finest. This is a must see for anyone who likes fantasy stories, and Jim Henson.

This is....my current reading material

For this weeks "this is" topic (for which I am once again delayed) My Champagne Dreams chose the topic..."this is my current Reading material"
Well, I am reading a corker of a book by the delightful Marian Keyes- "This Charming Man". Her books never fail to please and i have always been in fits of laughter in every one of her books, and in fits of sobbing tears in certain parts.
If you want simple, easy reading which is funny and told in a way that you can totally relate to, then give her a go. If you're not a big reader, don't be scared by the size of her books - they're easy reads.

This is....My favourite childrens book

I'm back into the "This is"meme :) over at Three Buttons

Pottymouth mama chose this weeks theme ...This is My Favourite Childrens book
Alice In Wonderland (and Through the Looking Glass) was always my favourite story growing up. I used to go to sleep every night listening to a audio book of it as well.

The movie was my complete favourite movie as well. I think it was this scene that gave me my love of flowers – especially pansy’s

Following a clsoe second was "the Folk of the Faraway Tree" (and other stories)

and in Third place "The Wind in the Willows".

This is my.....perfect Dinner Party

This Weeks "this is" topic, is proudly presented by Lily and Agathe

This one proved a little challenging for me actually. Other than my dear friends and Mr Honi, I really had to think about who else I would invite!!

1. I think I would have this splendid man (hoping he would delight the group in a little "pre-dinner serenade"...)

2. The Queen. Now, she sometimes seems like a right old snob, but after watching the series on TV about the Royal Family, I think she'd have quite a "british" sense of humour!! Plus I like her colour coordination skills and her brolly. And I wouldn't complain if she felt like bringing her grandsons along either!! ;)

3. And finally, Max Dupain to teach me some skills in photography

I could go on and on for ages though i would also like Nick Drake , Beatrix Potter , Rob Machado, Donavon Frakenreiter, and many, many more!!

This is my.....knick knack / jewellery box

Well, it appears that someone is VERY slack with their posting! :( Sorry girls!

Between working draining hours, organising a hens day in the Hunter Valley and trying to get some sleep (we have possums in the floor [we live above a house, so it's thier roof / floor] and the buggers sound like they're playing soccer at 4am EVERY morning) I haven't had much time to post!
But for this week's "this is" theme, the lovely Anastasia selected "This is my knick knack / jewellery box" which I was very excited about

This is jewellery box. a Vintage mini closet that my Great Aunt gave me. First drawer has bracelets, neckalces in the second, rings in the third and buttons/badges in the bottom drawer.

Then for all my earrings I use one of those display dollies. I ADORE earrings. I reckon you can wear any plain old outfit and make it look fantastic with a big pairof earrings.

This is.....the contents of my handbag

Well I rather like this weeks theme (not that I haven't loved the other ones!)

Am rather much a sticky beak though, and looking at the contents of people's handbags rather fascinates me!!

Looking at the contents of my bag today though, I found it to be rather drab and empty!! I pretty much cleaned it out last night before I read the theme....Oh well...it's still got a few pretty treasures in it!!

This is....the contents of my handbag (thankyou to Sharon of Iris and Lily)

This is my.....Demon

This is my…Demon (care of Drewzel this week)

Gemini….The Twins.

I am generally the “nice twin” but sometimes the “evil twin” rears its ugly head and I will be fickle, easily bored, emotional, vicious, quick to judge and nervous.
I try not to let this side out too often – but sometimes if I’m tired or at the end of my tether, I can just snap.

This is.....looking out my front door..

My front door is pretty darn boring. All I look onto is a wooden fence and my neighbours house. So, for this weeks' "This is" meme, I've decided to twist Brookes theme a little, and show you what I see when I look out my backdoor - it's a lot prettier!!

See, what did I tell you! The sun is shining, the neighbourhood kids are playing soccer and it's an all round hunky dory nice day..........Doo..doo...doo..lookin out my back dooor.....

This is.....my inspirational board

this weeks "this is" theme, comes from the delightful Pip from Meet me at Mikes

When Mr Honi moved in a month ago, I had a MASSIVE clean out which involved putting all my bits and pieces from my "inspiration wall" into a box or pasted into my inspiration book. I felt I needed a fresh new set of ideas so I kept a few key pieces up there and have started my new board.

this is also my inspiration board - my CD collection. Music is my ultimate inspiration - it pumps me up or calms me down. Lyrics give me a lot of my crafty ideas!

“This Is . . . Me Taking A Picture of Myself In the Mirror With My Favourite Accessory.”

this weeks "this is" theme is from the lovely Johanna over at One Red Robin
this is my driving in the car with my fave accessory - my sunnies. Anyone that knows me knows that my sunnies are a permanent fixture on my head - be it on my face of on top of my head. Even in my last drivers licence photo I managed to get away with them on my head!! I have about 8 or 9 pairs that I swap around to match my outfit each day.

This is....what makes me laugh out loud..

Thanks to Poppalina for this weeks "this is...." meme
Am I allowed to use videos??
Becuase this is what makes me laugh out loud.
Talking animals.

If I'm not allowed to use a video, then I'd have to say Mr Honi is what makes me laugh out loud. He always knows what to say to make me smile and to make me laugh - wether it be a small giggle or a full on belly shaking laugh.

This is....Sunday Lunch

This is......Sunday Lunch (topic this week picked by the lovely Lark)
My Honi and I were too busy driving back to Sydney from Port Macquarie on Sunday, so we didn't have the usual lavish lunch we do on a Sunday. We had a bag of hot chips from the servo, but I forgot to take a pic!

I love the look of a mis-matched tea set. but I also collect figurines and mini viewers that I posted about here and vintage cards, books, buttons, and "little things" like I have pocket versions of uno, operation and etch-a-sketch.

I really am slck with posting on time with this game. Sorry girls!!

This is.....what scares me

.... Mess..... scares me (part 2 of the lovely "Three Buttons'" Game"

....I'm also scared of spiders, moths, death, vomiting - to name a few things. Mr Honi made the final move into my house on the weekend, and this is what the place looked like. I had cold sweats thinking about how much stuff we needed to fit into a relatively small place. It was good though becuase we managed to purge a lot of suff. So to stop the hording that occurs (namely on my part) we will throw one thing away ( or give it to the Smith Family or Vinnies) each time we buy something new.

This is my.....

favourite tea cup...

I've jumped on another bandwagon and started to play the "this is my fave...." game over here at Three Buttons...
this teacup / sacuer set and strainer were given to me my a very dear friend. I have some lovely vintage teacups and saucers, but I think the fact that this one was given with lots of love makes it all the more special...and the tea tastes beautiful out if it - especially if I'm sitting out on the balcony reading a good book!
